Frequently asked questions
What biking skills are required for the downhill cycling portion?
The downhill biking segment follows paved roads descending from the high pass into the jungle valley. While prior mountain biking experience is not mandatory, you must be comfortable riding a bicycle, using hand brakes, and following the lead guide's speed and safety guidelines at all times.
How does the climate on the Inca Jungle Trail differ from high-altitude treks?
After the initial mountain pass descent on Day 1, the rest of the tour takes place in the high jungle (Ceja de Selva). Temperatures are warmer and humid (ranging from 15°C to 28°C / 59°F to 82°F). Altitude sickness is rarely an issue on this route, but tropical insect protection and moisture-wicking clothes are essential.
How is luggage managed throughout the 4-day tour?
You will leave your main suitcases in free storage at your Cusco hotel before departing. During the 4 days, you carry a daypack containing lightweight clothing, personal toiletries, rain gear, swimwear, and your original physical passport. Support transport moves your gear between activity points and night stops.
Are optional activities like rafting or ziplining included in the tour?
Extra activities such as river rafting in Santa Maria, ziplining in Santa Teresa, or visiting the Cocalmayo thermal baths can be added during the trip. If these are not pre-bundled into your specific itinerary, you can pay the local operators directly in cash (Peruvian Soles) during the tour.
